BRS’s Class of 2024 Commencement

Accomplishment, joy, and abundant gratitude took center stage as our proud graduates of the Class of 2024 and their loved ones gathered for their graduation on May 24 to celebrate their remarkable accomplishments.

Spirited music greeted our guests, students and their families. As family and friends took their seats in the gymnasium, graduates in caps and gowns began to file into the beautifully decorated grand venue. With a solemn Confucius Worship and Flag Raising Ceremony, the graduation ceremony began.

Mr. Neil Bush makes an opening speech

Offering the first of many pieces of advice the graduates would receive throughout the day, the ceremony’s chief guest, Mr. Neil Bush, Founder and Chair of the George H.W. Bush Foundation for U.S.-China Relations, hoped that our graduates “whether you work in research, as an entrepreneur in government, whatever you do in your daily toil, you will be mindful of the challenges that humans face in sustaining life on Earth. It has been enlightening for me to witness firsthand how China has been leading the way in addressing climate change.” He graciously shared his father’s core belief with us, saying, “Any definition of a successful life must include service to others. Each of us has a light inside that can be used to brighten the lives of others. As you proceed through life, try to be a point of light in the lives of others.”

It is noteworthy that there are five outstanding graduates in the Class of 2024: Li Yutian and Wang Yuruo, who have been admitted by Columbia University; Hui Shengxi and Liu Jin, who have been accepted by Johns Hopkins University; and Wang Zeyu, who has just received an offer from Northwestern University in Qatar. They all entered BRS in 7th grade, and after six years, they were able to realize their dreams through the integrated educational pathway that BRS has created for junior and senior high school students.

“Today marks an important turning point in your lives,” Mr. Wang Guangfa, Chief Principal of Beijing Royal School, congratulated our graduates on their achievements. “I am happy to see that all of you have realized your dreams here at BRS and have been empowered to choose your education in an environment that emphasizes tailored cultivation, inclusiveness, and balanced student management.” He reminded the Class of 2024 to “remember your mission as you will soon become participants in international affairs and strive to become a bridge of cultural understanding between China and the world.”

Our seniors led the event with outstanding performances that showcased their artistic talents. Their stunning performances were greeted with thunderous applause from the audience.

The ceremony was highlighted by two members of the Class of 2024 presenting the graduating class gift to the Alma Mater. Accepted into the engineering program at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and the artificial intelligence program at University College London, these students combined their professional specialties to present three gifts they created for BRS. The creativity and versatility of our students’ talents demonstrated the strength of a BRS education.

With the official conferral of diplomas, BRS welcomed 224 new alumni. Perhaps, their times of strolling together along the track and field on BRS campus have ended, but the Class of 2024 is ready for its next adventure. No matter what they study or where they go from here, each student’s hard work at BRS has now paid off. Join us in congratulating the Class of 2024!!!
